Masses of white, fragrant flowers appear in early spring before the leaves emerge, followed by small, edible red to purple fruit in early summer. Attractive blue-green foliage turns brilliant yellow, orange, and red in fall. A small, multi-stemmed native tree with an open, graceful form, well suited to naturalized areas, woodland edges, and home landscapes. Tolerates partial shade, with best flowering and fruit production in full sun. Medium growth. 15–25 feet.
